Camping at Crowder State Park

A lucky few of us gets next Thurday off for Veterans Day.  Lets get some people together and go camping 11-14NOV10.  The weather looks promising, sunny upper 50's to mid 30's, perfect camping weather.  I will have a shower point set up with warm water. 

Crowder SP is located outside of Trenton (north central part of the state).  If you have ever raced here you know they have some great mountain bike trails.  There is four different loops (2 to 4 miles apiece)  that have connectors between them that total approx 13 miles of some kick ass trails that flow really well.  There are numerous camp sites some with electric.  There will be a water point available.  There is also a lake.   You will need to bring some firewood or buy it at the park.  There is no cutting allowed inside the park and there will be a Park Ranger on duty at the park. 

Give me a call if you are going so we can plan some group meals so we all don't have to bring so much food.

Boone Doggle Loop -This Sunday!!!!

Anyone who is interested in doing the infamous Boone Doggle Loop this Sunday-7 Nov. meet up at the North Jefferson Lot say 7:30 AM.    We need to start gearing up for the Kansa already -- at least us posers that didn't finish.  Barry, Stoney - feel free to stay in bed, we got your number this year. No, seriously this will be a good training ride and will be a good pre-curser to the upcoming gravel Grumble on 27 Nov.  I'll be there with my Single Speed CX ready to tear up some gravel!    

Bubba CX #4 Race report

Well, it was me to fly the TRW flag at Bubba on Sat night.  This was actually the best course we had all season here in STL.  We had almost everything, a tight, twisty and turny course with a set of 3 barriers and a double sand pit!  I was stoked to see some technical elements finally being added, now if we could only get some mud!  Anyhow, I was lame and totally uncreative and decided not to don any costume, except my precious TRW kit.  Because of my lack of costume, I started third row, not too bad, but I knew it was going to be a struggle.  Before I knew it, I heard Buddy tell the field something and then we were off.  The pace started off quite nicely, till we hit the sand pit and then carnage was everywhere.  I tried to ride in as much as I could, but since no one else can ride sand I was off and running,  Running the full sand pit gassed me more than I would have thought, which is why I changed my strategery for the rest of the race and decided riding the second half of the sand was way quicker and less taxing.  Almost immediately after the sand was a set of barriers, which normally aren't an issue.  I tell you what though, when you take 2 normal barriers and add a third, it hurts quite a bit more.  I found my places to hammer and a few small spots to recover and had a good race and good legs.  I think I finshed just outside of the top twenty, but who knows since the results seemed to get completely F-ed.

Show Me State race

A perfect day of racing!

I hadn't ridden Rock Bridge in a wile. The trail was in great shape and the new stuff flowed well. The trail was a little rougher than I remember, but I am riding rigid (never again). We also had a ton of Red wheelers show up. Between the TRW, Jefferson city, and Owensville riders we had over 10 racers.
