Well we all got down there one way or another. Problem was severe weather and a tornado came along. Long story short it rained a bunch, but no twister. Except for the one Nick "claims" to have come close to. Don't know, wasn't there.
First off, gotta REALLY thank our Sag. That is really a big lift when you got people waiting on you. I really really appreciate that. It's a big lift on a tough day.
Second, I'm an idiot. One mile from the finish line, I decide to re-enter the course and start the damb thing over. It took me over an hour to get back to the last checkpoint and start to the finish line a second time, this time correctly. Talk about stupidity. I'll just leave it at that.
But, Steve Parker just emailed me. He asked for my number, he says he's gonna adjust my time as though I didn't make that bonner move. I don't deserve it, but I'll take it. Apparently there were several of us that did the same thing. Your mind really does go kind of numb at these races, one turn just turns into another, and the whole day seems so long you loose track of time. But to go from thinking your done, one minute to the finish line, all down hill, to suddenly you're lost and how the hell you're gonna find your way back to the finish line. Man what a drag.
Anyway, its a great race, great course. Rocks were as slippery as anything I've ever experienced. Imagine the ice rink in Olympic village, put it at a 45degree angle, then try to ride your bike across it. That's how slick the rocks were.
