While we're waiting on the results to be posted, I'll make a comment on this race. It's not really a comment, but a question. Why is the entire field started at the same time? I don't know how many of us were in the race (250+), but it took 15 miles and the first checkpoint before the field spread out enough that we weren't bumping into each other at each uprooted tree (and there was a bunch of them) in the middle of the single trak . The entire race was one slick wet mess. It sure would have helped matters had the different classes been stagger started. But I know that takes more volunteers and more timers, and volunteers were not in abundance. Ask Janeen about that. She and Steve Parker were a team of two getting that course ready.
But with conditions like that all you can do is put out the maximum effort and hope it's enough. I got back somewhere in 6 hours and 50 mins. I'll live with that and try harder next time.
