I was driving home Sunday from picking my son up from his grandparents when my cell phone rings. On the other end was Chris Bopp wanting to get some cyclocross practice in. Since I had not ridden my singlespeed in quite some time I agreed to meet him at Binder.
When I got out there Chris already had the barriers setup and was ready to ride. He said..."we will start out easy", as I needed a warmup. We headed out on the course, and he immediately rode away from me. LOL.... I guess his easy and my easy are two different things.
I headed over the 1st barrier and caught the back of my calf on my pedal and tore a nice gash in it. Nice...it hurt and I wasn't even half way through the course!
I sucked it up and we ride 45 minutes. The course was setup for us to run through the sand pit twice, and over 2 barriers on a donwhill slope. There were no stairs (thanks God), as my heart rate was jacked the whole time.
We did a little cool down and tore the course down. So we got some good time in. Hopefully we can continue to "practice" as I feel that is the only way to get better and faster.
